From the outside of this Mt Hawthorn home you may mistakenly think it’s a well renovated older home. It is however a newly constructed home by Kensington Design with cottage charm and traditional elements that externally allow it to blend beautifully with the style of homes in the area. To achieve the look, the designers used weatherboard cladding on an articulated front façade with a high pitched roof – featuring dormer windows. The carport is discretely integrated so as not to dominate the view of the entry.
A black high shine front door occupies the traditional location off a raised covered brick verandah offset by the greenery of terraced landscaping at the side of the home. There is a convenient everyday family entry that leads directly into the kitchen/laundry zone via the verandah walkway from the carport. Inside, the entrance foyer is enhanced by stunning Jarrah parquetry wood flooring in an intricate herringbone pattern that continues throughout the main living areas. The split level ground floor layout of the home was designed to suit the topography of the site.
Kensington Design created a striking black and white modern kitchen with an uncluttered look with gloss white cabinetry, honed Kabuki black granite kitchen bench tops and honed Carrara marble splashback. The large picture window admits a profusion of natural light into the room inviting family interaction at the built-in breakfast bar. Pendant lighting and a series of French doors add character to this distinctive home.
The playroom is separated from the main living area by its discrete position and by the subtle change in floor level. This inviting space connects directly to the outdoor living and back garden, ensuring maximum access to the warming winter sun. A stunning floor-to-ceiling recycled brick wood-burning fireplace is the focal point of the open plan living and dining room. The home is a mix of modern elements and traditional character that blend beautifully to create a warm and inviting family home.
