Founded in 1998 by Greg and Jenny Silkman, First Creek Wines has earned its reputation as one of the Hunter Valley’s most accomplished and awarded wineries. Drawing fruit from exceptional vineyard sites across regional New South Wales with a focus on its home in the Hunter Valley, the winery is known for producing elegant, expressive wines of clarity and depth.
Now led by Liz and Shaun Silkman as chief winemaker and CEO, First Creek’s portfolio includes a celebrated suite of Single Vineyard and Winemaker Reserve wines, many achieving 96+ point ratings in the Halliday Wine Companion. Alongside these sits the refined Botanica label, crafted with a strong focus on sustainability and regional expression.
Liz Silkman stands among Australia’s most respected winemakers. She is the only Hunter Valley winemaker ever named Halliday Wine Companion Winemaker of the Year and the only recipient of the Hunter Valley Winemaker of the Year title on four occasions – a record that underscores First Creek’s standing at the very top of Australian winemaking.

An engaging palate of grapefruit and white peach is supported by vibrant acid, delivering a smooth, persistent length. Barrel ferment characters, slow cool ferments and lees maturation provide a complex backdrop to naturally intense fruit flavours and mineral acidity, showcasing restraint, finesse and classic Chardonnay varietal characteristics.

Bright green straw with a silver fleck. Classic varietal notes of white peach, melon & fig. Lovely delivery of jubey fruit, with generous power & length, mouth-watering acidity, and a fine mineral & saline crunch to finish.
First Creek Rose 2025 – $32 per bottle
A perfectly balanced Rosé made with free run Merlot. Created with minimal intervention and a focus on the quality of fruit. The colour is subtle pink, crisp and clear. The 2025 Classic Rosé carries an aroma of rosehip, strawberries and Turkish delight. The palate is of strawberries and cream with a subtle hint of cherry.
