Jakin has genuinely captured the wow factor in this recently completed project in Sydney’s Northbridge. The yard, previously unusable due to drainage issues and uneven ground, has been transformed into a sophisticated outdoor haven. The result of the remodel is an unrecognizable recreation space fit for entertaining or an idyllic escape in solitude.
The focal point of the remodel is the pool; eyes are immediately drawn to follow its curvature from the bottom of the newly paved walkway to the top. Completely stripped to a bare shell, the pool has been lined with striking blue tiles and extended to add a spa and an infinity-edge that boasts its own water feature gently cascading down to the curved tank. It is fully automated so that it can be controlled and monitored remotely, and with an inbuilt filtration system, this pool is all play no work.
Beyond the pool sits a large cabana area created purely for relaxing and equipped with a full-sized bar and ice machine, a standalone BBQ island with a range hood, pizza oven, dining table and a TV bracket that swivels so that the cricket can even be watched from the pool. The more delicate additions to this design prove the attention to detail that Jakin has shown – not only to the area’s aesthetics but the habitability it offers.
The subtle work of the custom paving and the large travertine stone tiles leading up the path contrasts beautifully with the cabana feature wall and the tastefully arranged greenery. Carefully considered trees and shrubbery line the outskirts of the yard in a way that offers privacy while allowing for open spaces, and potted and planted ferns give the place a clean yet organic feel.
The entire project has resulted in an elegant masterpiece. The property also offers a wine room at the bottom of the path, which is well insulated in its position under the house. At the end of the day, the chance to pop into the artistic cellar, grab a glass and unwind around the firepit seems undeniable; the only question left is red or white?
