After taking out the top spot at the 2021 London Wine Competition, Jo Irvine’s patience in creating the 2015 Levrier ‘Anubis’ Cabernet Sauvignon has paid off. The vintage pour features succulent, velvety flavours heavy in dark cherry and cassis fruit. These strong themes are complemented and enhanced by an extended aging process in new French Oak Barrels that draw out its unique characters. Add in Jo Irvine’s extensive wine-making knowledge – having learned the trade from her father James Irvine who was renowned as’ The Master of Merlot’ and then added her own character and expertise, the result is an unbeatable wine which won Levrier both Wine and Winery of the Year.
Such impressive recognition on the international stage didn’t come easily, though. With entries from 36 participating countries and 135 different types of wine, the ‘Anubis’ was up against formidable competition. Yet with an understandable score of 96 points, the wine’s reputation is well earned.
Jo Irvine has dedicated her life to producing the highest standard of Australian wines. Personally selecting single vineyard fruit from Barossa and Eden Valley growers ensures her products are distinctive and of superior quality. Named after the french term for greyhound ‘Levrier’ pays homage to the world’s oldest breed of dog. Jo is a passionate advocate for greyhound adoption as the majestic animals have accompanied and inspired her throughout her career. The winning 2015 ‘Anubis’ Cabernet Sauvignon is encased in a beautiful bottle depicting a mural style tribute to the ancient dogs.
