Having previously built their expansive, traditionally styled home in Perth’s affluent suburb of Dalkeith, the owners of the new custom home by Maughan Building Co were very familiar with the process. This time however they wanted something quite different and unique it certainly is.

With grown-up children and young grandchildren, a compact low-maintenance contemporary home was the brief for this home. Something that was minimalist in design but with unique architectural features, finished with quality materials but with an open and airy feeling, that would still provide sufficient room to comfortably entertain the whole family.

With finalised architectural drawings, the owners contracted Maughan Building Co to see their vision for their new home come to life.  After working for many years with other leading luxury home builders in Perth, owner and builder Rob Maughan started Maughan Building Co in 2008, and it’s his personalised service and commitment to exceptional standards that has seen Maughan Building Co win several MBA awards over the last few years.  

Finished to exacting standards, this stunning contemporary home was built down from the sloping streetscape to allow the home to be constructed from front to rear on one level plain. The luxurious finishes include Isernia stone tiles throughout the main living areas which flow through to the external verandahs. Accessed via wide, zero threshold doorways the home opens up to create an expansive indoor / outdoor entertaining space.

Significant thought in the design stages and considerable skill in execution has achieved the minimalist, slightly industrial feel of this home. Polished plaster on the walls and custom-made doors without frames disappear into wall cavities. Strip LED lighting has been flush mounted to highlight the crisp angular lines of the master bedroom en-suite which leads to a fabulous outdoor shower for hot summer days and warm moonlit nights.

Recovered from a property owned by the client’s in Bridgetown, the timber in this workbench was once a part of an old shearing shed and believed to be more than 100 years old. Adding not only some rustic charm to the otherwise  and history to this ultra modern the timber was straightened to create this workbench for the client which is now a treasured part of their new home.
