Classy Hamptons-Provincial Kitchen

Located in Rivervale, this kitchen renovation by Arcaro Exclusive Kitchens shows how a Federation-style home can be carried into a new chapter with a Hamptons – French Provincial influence. The centrepiece of the design is a large American oak island bench, three metres long and one and a half metres wide, finished with a unique cut edge. Wide corbels sit proudly beneath, anchoring the island while echoing the craftsmanship of traditional joinery. To the outer faces, high skirting with intricate mouldings completes the look, ensuring the island feels like carefully crafted piece of furniture rather than a simple work surface.

The cabinetry, painted in two-pac polyurethane, provides a clean canvas for the detailed features that define the room. To introduce an element of authenticity, carved timber corbels were commissioned from Indonesia, a country long known for its artistry in exceptional woodwork. Instead of opting for tiled splashbacks, pressed tin was chosen to reinforce the heritage character, its texture adding interest without overwhelming the cabinetry. Beneath it all, jarrah flooring introduces warmth and depth, further enriched by the soft glow of integrated lighting that highlights the cabinetry.

Every inclusion has been selected with both form and function in mind. Soft-closing drawers and stainless steel cutlery inserts bring a level of everyday practicality that modern homeowners expect, while a flat white gloss farmhouse sink introduces a subtle sense of luxury. Around the cooking area, glass shelving and door panels and a beautiful over the stove shelf framed with corbels creates a beautiful focal point, allowing items to be displayed while remaining accessible. Carrara Caesarstone benchtops in a slim 20mm profile bring balance, their soft veining complementing the warmth of the timber and the crisp cabinetry.

Hardware plays a quiet but important role, with handles and fittings chosen to reflect the provincial style rather than distract from it. Behind bi-fold doors, a private bar was included as an extra touch for the clients, blending into the cabinetry when closed yet offering a complete entertaining station when needed.
