The owners of this stunning contemporary residence recognised the need for its revitalization to fully capitalise on its prime location in the highly sought after suburb of Cottesloe in Perth’s western suburbs. This remarkable luxury renovation carried out by Perth custom builder, Distinctive Homes perfectly fulfilled the requirements for expansion, addition, and reorganisation, ultimately transforming the property into an exceptional display of luxurious living.
Designed by Phillipa Mowbray Architects, the luxury renovation encompassed various noteworthy enhancements, such as the replacement of the kitchen, the addition of a butler’s pantry, and the extension of the upper floor and living areas to maximise ceiling heights and facilitate the incorporation of clerestory windows that would allow for an abundance of natural light. The main living area was further enhanced with the creation of an extended terrace to take in the ocean views, while strategic reorganisation of the floorplan resulted in the creation of five bedrooms, each with its own ensuite. The basement garage was transformed into a secondary living space, featuring two additional bedrooms, an ensuite, and a laundry facility. A new double garage and the installation of a captivating custom pool completed the transformation.
The project presented a multitude of challenges, including addressing concerns related to water, wind, and salt penetration inherent in coastal locations. Additionally, the sloping nature of the site posed design complications, imposing overshadowing restrictions. Working with existing damp garage spaces to create an ambiance of light and spaciousness further exemplified Distinctive Homes’ ability to overcome obstacles. Despite these hurdles, the team delivered an unparalleled level of bespoke luxury to create a home of distinction, achieving the illusion of effortless elegance.
The implementation of exquisite palm fibre ceilings and the stunning Chevron parquetry flooring, previously unexplored by the project team, transformed the property into a breathtakingly sophisticated residence.
Meticulously crafted, the renovation boasts numerous elements of custom-designed aluminum ‘steel look’ joinery, enhancing the rear entertaining area with built-in seating. Throughout the space, meticulous metalwork details, exquisite cabinetry, captivating feature lighting, and a bespoke pool contribute to an impeccable result.
