This amazing home in mountainous Eildon in Victoria was awarded the MBAV 2008 Award for best custom home over $500,000 and Regional Builder of the Year North East Section Excellence in Housing Builder of the Year for Hedger Constructions.
Substantial excavation and an outstanding design were called for to meet the site challenges of building a three bedroom retirement home on a one-in-two slope. Huge steel columns were built to an exact millimeter to support the suspended slab at the front. They stand as a work of art. Timber and aluminium extruded panels makes a uinque framing system for the double-glazed windows and doors. The excavated embankments are safety stabilised with shotcrete.
The owners wanted a low-maintenance residence that could comfortably accommodate guests and grandchildren. Each bedroom has a spacious en suite bathroom and walk-in wardrobes. All rooms offer scenic views of the countryside and an expansive terrace is perfect for alfresco dining.
The home is air-conditioned with an in-slab gas boiler-fired coil hot water system to meet the owners requests for unobtrusive heating. Water purity and conservation was also a priority for the owners and the property was fitted with a specially designed collection, storage and filtration system.
A state of the art kitchen was a top priority for the chef owners, with Gaggenau appliances and a pantry almost the size of a small apartment, it’s an enviable feature of this stunning home.
