Exclusively representing luxury brands such as Armac Martin, Frank Allart and Turnstyle Designs, Gregory Croxford is Australasia’s most highly regarded importer of architectural hardware for doors, windows, cabinetry and furniture. Director Gregory McGrail and his team have superior industry knowledge, which they use not only to curate their extensive collection of products but to advise and assist in Australia’s most impressive residential spaces.

This stunning renovation is an excellent example of traditional and contemporary values beautifully combined. Having undergone demolition and a total transformation within, the home features extensive use of Armac Martin hardware.

The kitchen is often considered the heart of the home – nourishing, inspiring and bringing people together, it is critical that the space presents the right atmosphere. One of homeowner Scarlett’s favourite features in the home, is the spectacular curved island which takes centre stage in the room. Providing ample storage, the statement feature draws the eye instantly to the satisfying symmetry in the space. A soothing injection of colour takes the form of Paean Black paint by Farrow and Ball, contrasting with the stark white cabinetry. All joinery was flawlessly achieved by Paul Alexander Kitchens.

From the conception of the design, Scarlett knew she wanted gold accents in the kitchen, intuitively planning how the hardware could elevate the modern luxury aesthetic of the space. Scarlett had always appreciated beehive-style knobs and found a polished and contemporary version of this style in Armac Martin’s Merrick Collection. A ridged edge to the countertop reflects the ridges in the knobs and as anticipated the touches of gold throughout create the luxurious effect she was looking for.

In other areas of the kitchen Armac martin Merrick handles have been used which beautifully complement the knobs.

Mud rooms are an example of luxury and practicality merging, and the mere presence of a mud room encourages a nostalgic sentiment associated with farmsteads, holiday homes and living off the land as well as a beautiful home beyond, which needs protection from the mud. Perhaps the most traditional room in the home, the evocative nature of the space has been perfected by the Farrow and Ball paint ‘Preference’, which pairs charmingly with the antique brass hooks and handles selected. Featured are the Traditional Coat Hook with a recognisable, distinguished form and the simple yet effectual, cylindrical shape of the Cabinet Handle, both in an antique satin lacquered finish.

The inclusion of a utility room is another feature found in stately homes. Providing extra storage as well as a convenient space for transitioning fresh produce from the market or garden to the kitchen, Scarlett has selected pale grey cabinetry and sleek quartz surfaces, which provide the perfect backdrop for the brass, industrial-inspired Digbeth Collection. The Digbeth is one of the best-known series by Armac Martin, and for a good reason. Despite its industrial inspiration, it blends beautifully with any vibe, and its nuances bring new life and meaning to suit any design aesthetic.

In the laundry, colour and texture have been injected into the room in a deliberately subtle and sophisticated palette. The room salutes Art Deco principals and has a fresh and light feminine appeal. Iconic shapes and patterns have embraced the art-deco style and take the form of scalloped wall tiles and a mosaic floor. The room is visually dynamic and fun; it requires individual, eye-catching hardware to celebrate its character.

Pale calamine makes up the cabinetry and defines the space, and the gold details of the hardware have brought to light the pink undertone without making the room feel dated. Although small, the hardware features in this space refuse to appear insignificant. Scarlett has selected the Sparkbrook T-Bar handle and the Sparkbrook Cabinet Knob, both in the satin brass lacquered finish which has a luxurious, gleaming effect as it captures the light and demands attention.

The project was a massive undertaking and had the mark of dedication, finesse and loving attention to detail.
