A study in symmetry centred around the arched entry to the home, the façade features extensive architectural mouldings which have been placed with absolute precision to create the kind of detail rarely seen in modern day construction. French terracotta shingle roof tiles imported from France and bespoke wrought iron balustrading add to the authenticity of style, so that with little imagination one could transport themselves from Melbourne’s Toorak to a street in Paris’ 16th Arondissement.

Inside, the home flows like a classic French chateau, through large galleries rich in detail that includes wall panelling, coffered ceilings and stunning marble flooring with timber inlay.

Throughout, the home has been exquisitely furnished, with items hand-picked in France by the owners, from an 18th Century mahogany dining table with brass inlays to gilt mirrors and chandeliers that were rewired in Australia adding to the authentic French style.

A total of over 1000sqm of living space incorporates; a 6 car basement garage, 6 bedrooms — all with ensuites, 2 additional powder rooms, a 3500-bottle temperature-controlled wine cellar, home theatre, gym, formal lounge and dining, a combined family meals and kitchen with butlers kitchen, two studies, a bar and a covered alfresco area.

The earthy smell of traditional cedar racking adds to the ambience of the enviable 3500 bottle temperature-controlled wine cellar, which also features brick tiling on the floor and vaulted ceiling and a rustic style chandelier which was bought in France by the owners as a traditional candelabra and wired up.

One of the highlights of the home and a favourite space for the owners, is the sitting room and bar which was modelled on ‘Ralph’s’ bar and restaurant in the Ralph Lauren building in Paris – a favourite Parisian hangout. Rich dark timbers and dark walls combine with leather to create a warm and inviting feel in this refined and elegant space.
