This Rozelle terrace has been completely transformed so beautifully by the team at Schenk Constructions, with a full home renovation and a budget of $700,000, the goal was to modernise the home, make better use of space and light, and give it a fresh, updated feel inside and out.
In collaboration with Harper Dane Design, one of the biggest changes was in the kitchen. A slanted roof with skylights now floods the area with natural light, and new glass bi-fold doors open up the back of the home to the courtyard, creating a much more open and usable space. The kitchen itself features shaker-style cabinetry in a sectional layout, offering loads of storage while keeping a clean, classic look. Square pearl-toned tiles add a bit of shine to the splashback and open shelves break up the high ceilings and give the owners room to personalise with cookbooks and decorative pieces. A small breakfast bar makes the space feel homely and relaxed.
The same oak-look wide plank flooring runs throughout the home, keeping things consistent and warm underfoot. Brass tapware has been used across the kitchen and bathrooms, tying everything together with a premium finish.
In the bathrooms, they brought in a deeper colour palette. One features navy and white cabinetry with marble-look tiles in grey and white, while the other bathroom uses a darker vertical thin tile in the shower paired with a marble basin, both complementing each other while offering a different feel.
Internal shutters were added to the bedrooms and bathrooms to allow light in without adding bulky window furnishings which is deal for terrace living. The cabinetry style flows through into the bedrooms wardrobes and drawers for a neat and consistent finish.
A new fireplace has been installed in the living room, and the original thin plank timber floors were kept to add character. The staircase has been updated with a glass balustrade to open up the area and allow more light to flow through.
Every detail of this project was thought through carefully from layout and flow to finishes and functionality. The result is a fresh, modern family home that looks great, feels comfortable, and works well day to day.
