Few places embrace outdoor living quite like Western Australia. Blessed with an enviable climate, endless coastline and a culture built around connection to the outdoors, the boundary between home and landscape here is often beautifully blurred. It’s an approach perfectly embodied in this Gnarabup project by Honeypot Homes – a coastal retreat in the heart of the Margaret River wine region that captures the relaxed outdoor lifestyle of the South West.
An extension to the main residence, the luxurious pool house was designed for entertaining and guest accommodation, offering two bedrooms, a bathroom, living area and kitchenette. The structure mirrors the architectural language of the main home, with a palette of organic materials that include Shiplap Blackbutt cladding, designed to harmonise beautifully with the environment. Overhangs, cantilevered rooflines and fine shadow lines create sculptural form, while distinctive detailing around the windows and rooflines elevates the design, all showcasing Honeypot’s exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Bi-folding doors open the space up completely to the alfresco dining area that overlooks the sparkling pool which is surrounded by frameless glass. Complete with an outdoor toilet and shower, the space provides one of the home’s prime entertaining areas, with a resort-style atmosphere that feels relaxed yet undeniably refined.
Conceived by CR Design Solutions, the outdoor spaces were a major focus of the build, managed by Honeypot Homes from earthworks through to completion. A fully landscaped yard with retained, tiered levels was designed to follow the natural slope of the site, softened with coastal plantings that anchor the home to its surroundings. Exposed concrete pathways connect each zone, while integrated garden lighting transforms the space as evening falls.
Balancing craftsmanship, functionality and a deep respect for the environment, Honeypot Homes has delivered a coastal haven that reflects the very best of West Australian living , open, effortless and beautifully connected to its surroundings.
