A well-crafted home often reveals itself in the details you live with every day. The way a kitchen flows, how storage is integrated, how materials carry from one space to the next. In this contemporary coastal residence at Sunshine Beach, it is the joinery by Gull Design that shapes that experience from the ground up.

Designed and built by Menzie Designer Homes, they called on Noosa joinery experts Gull Design to be responsible for both the joinery design and construction. The home brings together four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a dedicated office and a generous alfresco area, all tied together through a consistent and carefully handled material palette. The brief centred on a modern coastal aesthetic, something relaxed yet refined, with warmth and texture layered throughout. The outcome feels natural and effortless, but every decision has been considered.

The kitchen is where that approach is most evident. Boston Oak Woodmatt cabinetry introduces a soft timber tone, paired with Taj Mahal honed quartzite that brings subtle movement and depth. The island, gently curved at the edges, softens the overall geometry and becomes a central gathering point within the home. Integrated high end appliances and clean cabinetry lines ensure the space remains visually uncluttered, while ABI Interiors luxurious tapware introduces a crisp, contemporary edge. Beyond appearance, the joinery has been designed for real use, with storage, proportions and layout working together to support daily living.

That same consistency carries into the bathrooms, where Gull Design have continued the Boston Oak palette across floating vanities, paired with natural stone surfaces and vessel basins. The layering of materials is restrained but effective, allowing texture to do the work. Vertical tiling and curved mirrors add variation without overwhelming the space, while the overall composition maintains a sense of calm that aligns with the coastal setting.

In the home office, the joinery remains connected. A clean timber desk sits alongside generous storage, positioned to capture natural light and outlook to greenery. It is a simple space, but one that reflects the same level of care seen throughout the rest of the home, balancing practicality with a clean, resolved aesthetic. A floating timber shelf in the living room creates another clean and weightless profile enhancing the warm stone in the fireplace wall.

Outdoors, the alfresco continues, Gull Designed matched the material palette, with joinery that reflects what’s happening inside. The outdoor kitchen includes built-in barbecue, refrigeration and generous storage, designed to handle regular use while still feeling consistent with the interior. The transition between inside and out feels natural, without any abrupt change in finishes or tone.

What stands out across the home is the consistency. Gull Design haven’t overcomplicated it. Materials repeat, proportions feel balanced, and every detail has been thought through. It’s this restraint that gives the home its overall sense of ease.
