For Queensland custom builders J & B Projects, the completion of this contemporary luxury residence overlooking the pristine waters at NSW’s Cabarita Beach came with its fair share of obstacles. The project commenced with some challenging excavation due to the enviable cliff-side location being essentially a giant rock. Then came covid border closures which created considerable difficulties due to 90% of their trades living in Queensland. Despite the issues, J & B pushed through finalising a spectacular coastal residence that saw it awarded a 2022 Master Builders NSW ‘Excellence in Housing’ award for Best Contract Home in its category.

Designed to take advantage of the spectacular ocean outlook and maximise natural ventilation and lighting, the three level home features fixed open glazed systems on all sides of the building, enhancing the connection to the stunning natural surroundings. Utilising low maintenance materials that can withstand harsh coastal conditions, the precise angular lines of the home create a striking contemporary façade that combine concrete with timber cladding and screening and harmoniously blends with the coastal surrounds.

Water usage 8in the Cabarita Beach home is also minimised thanks to a 10kL in-ground tank that services the gardens irrigation needs and all tapware and toilets are 5-star rated. The outcome is a gorgeous sustainable worthy of both its award and its idyllic location.
