With commanding views over the river, this four storey home in Brisbane’s prestigious Hamilton Hill had the basis of a being a spectacular luxury home. Built 20 years ago however, the home needed some adjustments to suit the style and needs of the new owners. Brisbane based design firm Highgate House have transformed the residence with classic elegance and a fresh, coastal ambience reflective of the style of homes in America’s Cape Cod.
Walls, ceilings, timber frames and joinery were all painted vivid white, whilst the existing timber flooring was stained dark, creating a sophisticated contrast.
An understated elegance is achieved through a consistent palette of white & ivory, contrasting with dark timber and black accent pieces. An abundance of greenery, including a green wall that also acts as a screen for privacy, helps to breaks up the monotone interior and adds to the fresh, clean feel throughout.
An expansive deck was an addition to the home by the new owners and Highgate House helped to transform it into an inviting and functional space where the family could enjoy the outstanding river views. Timber look tiles, coffered ceilings and detailed posts fitted with rustic style lanterns were added to create a look consistent with the style of the rest of the home.
Another new addition to the home – the theatre room, was also designed by Highgate House. Despite the contemporary nature of the room, timber panelling, wall lights and luxurious carpet create a classic elegance that is evident throughout this stunning home.
