Preserving the home’s character and history was very important since the client has a deep emotional connection to it, having grown up there. The goal was to restore it to its original beauty by fully refurbishing, redesigning the layout, and adding extensions to fix previous layout issues. Though the house was already large, the size of the property allowed for further expansion without overpowering the river or street views. The river-facing side of the house had a symmetrical design, so the extensions were carefully planned to maintain this balance and match the original style.

This is a grand family home where the owners plan to stay for many years, so finding the right mix of luxury and practicality was essential. The ground floor was redesigned to relocate the kitchen, giving a central view for watching children play outside.

The home now includes six large bedrooms, five luxurious bathrooms with marble tiles and European fixtures, multiple living and outdoor spaces, a new rear extension, a three-car garage, a pool room with a kitchenette, and a balcony off the master bedroom. A focus on luxury is reflected in the materials and finishes, such as new imported curved terracotta roof tiles from Spain, which add texture and depth to the exterior. High-quality materials were used throughout, including American oak timber floors with a European finish, travertine tiles, granite cobblestones for the driveway, and granite herringbone patterns for the pathways.
