Hunter Valley

Winmark Wines has a long history as one of the Hunter Valleys’ premier vineyards. It was established long ago in the premium soils of the Broke Fordwich area, originally as the renowned Pooles Rock vineyard which had a reputation as the best Hunter Valley vineyard of its time.

It was sold in 2011 and when purchased in 2016 by current owner, Karin Adcock (renowned for bringing Pandora to Australia), it was neglected and rundown. Karin has lovingly restored the property with no expense spared, bringing to it Karin’s passion for design and art.

Renowned landscape designer, Paul Bangay was engaged to create some of the beautiful features of the property that include a rose garden, gazebo 12.5m pool and tennis court. She also commissioned relatively unknown sculptor David Ball, just before he won the 2017 Bondi Sculpture by the Sea major prize, to build Biosis, a massive steel structure that is perched above the vines.

For half a century, the vineyard has grown exceptional fruit, with a proud history of producing highly acclaimed Chardonnay. In acknowledgement of this, Winmark Wines has devoted the entire estate to Chardonnay. With blocks carefully replaced with French root stock to supplement the exceptional reputation the winery already had.

Beautifully designed, the new cellar door overlooks the 28 acre vineyard, offering tastings of Winmark’s premium Chardonnays.
