Perth cabinet makers Brightwood Design recently teamed up with Dalecki Design to unveil a cabinetry project of sleek modern aesthetic and functionality. The collaboration focused on revamping the kitchen, wardrobes, bathroom vanities and laundry, resulting in a contemporary home with superior craftsmanship.
The clients envisioned their dream family home as a space that fostered connection and provided central areas for gathering. In the kitchen, the family wanted to use black cabinetry, a sophisticated and dramatic choice which ordinarily can make a space feel smaller and darker, especially if there is little natural light. Fortunately this space receives abundant natural light from a window at the end of the island bench and clerestory windows so making a bold statement with the black woodmatt was successful.
An entire wall of black floor to ceiling cupboards required expert craftmanship which Brightwood Design achieved, as errors in joinery and installation would be very apparent. Paired with a light sophisticated Caesarstone benchtop for the island it gives the kitchen an airier feeing and breaks up the darker cabinetry. Porcelain stoneware ceramic tops were used for the rest of the kitchen and splashbacks added a refined touch to the rest of the kitchen. The combination of all these elements created a beautiful contract against the timber ceiling, creating a sleek, calm and inviting environment.
For the bathroom vanities, solid Blackbutt timber was chosen for its rich and warm appearance, perfectly complementing the ceiling and black cupboards in the kitchen. New cupboards were also installed in the laundry with a lighter colour cupboard but keeping the consistent black theme with a black bench top. Custom cabinetry in black was also fitted into the main living area.
This project is a testament to Brightwood Design’s commitment to combining functionality with modern aesthetics, resulting in a cohesive, modern and stylish living space that meets the clients’ needs and exceeds their expectations.
