As luxury homes continue to evolve, technology is becoming just as important to the design conversation as architecture, interiors and material selection. Today’s homeowners expect seamless control over lighting, climate, security, entertainment and automation, yet integrating these systems successfully requires far more than simply adding devices at the end of a build. It requires early planning, collaboration and a deeper understanding of how technology can work alongside architecture rather than compete with it.

That conversation will take centre stage at the upcoming CEDIA CPD Events presented in partnership with Control4, bringing together architects, builders, designers and industry professionals across Australia and New Zealand to explore the future of smart home integration within luxury residential projects.

Designed specifically for professionals working in the premium residential sector, Designing the Australian Smart Home will unpack how integrated technology is reshaping the way high-end homes are designed and delivered, from intelligent lighting and climate control through to whole-home automation, security and entertainment systems that are now increasingly expected within contemporary luxury homes.

The CPD training will also explore the importance of engaging technology integrators early in the design process, helping architects and builders avoid costly compromises later while creating homes that feel seamless, intuitive and prepared for future technologies. The sessions will provide practical insight into how technology consultants can work collaboratively alongside architects, interior designers and contractors throughout the documentation and construction process.

Presented in collaboration with CEDIA, the globally recognised association representing more than 4,000 home technology companies worldwide, the events are tailored to help design and building professionals better understand the rapidly growing role technology now plays within luxury residential living.

New Zealand’s Designing The Kiwi Smart Home session will also place a strong focus on approaching residential technology as part of a home’s architectural infrastructure rather than a late-stage addition. The presentation will explore how lighting control, shading, audio visual systems, security and networking can influence everything from spatial planning and ceiling design through to joinery, ventilation and power allocation, while also touching on New Zealand compliance frameworks and the growing role of residential technology consultants within high-end projects.

Continue the Conversation Afterwards

The sessions will also flow into a relaxed evening of drinks, canapés and networking afterwards, giving guests the chance to connect with the Control4 team, technology integrators and other industry professionals in a more informal setting while exploring a range of smart home solutions showcased throughout the trade expo area.

The Australian CEDIA CPD sessions will run from 5pm to 6pm at the following locations:

  • Perth — Tuesday May 19 at Residence On Langley Park
  • Brisbane — Tuesday June 2 at Brisbane Marriott Hotel
  • Sydney — Tuesday June 16 at Four Points by Sheraton Central Park
