No home is complete without music and nothing quite speaks of refined luxury like a grand piano. Whether you play the piano or not, most people are familiar with the quality and prestige associated with the name Steinway & Sons. Find out why these pianos have remained at the heart of cultured homes all over the world for over 160 years.

Steinway & Sons was founded in 1853 by German immigrant Henry Engelhard Steinway in a Manhattan loft. Over the next thirty years, Henry and his sons developed the modern piano. They built their pianos one at a time, applying skills that have been handed down from master to apprentice, generation after generation, ever since.

To this day every Steinway (consisting of more than 12,000 individual parts) is built by hand by artisans, with experience decades in the making and with personal pride and attention to detail that makes each Steinway piano a masterpiece of craftsmanship and a consummate work of art. It is for these reasons that 19 out of 20 concert pianists choose the Steinway grand piano.

‘I love knowing that something I created will still be making music long after I am gone.’
