When you’ve built some of Brisbane’s most luxurious custom homes, people can’t help but wonder what kind of residence you’d create for yourself. For builder and civil engineer Aurelien Berson of Aurelien Berson Construction, that curiosity is answered in Little Chester House his recently completed Teneriffe custom home that brings together ideas, materials and unique features from years of crafting exceptional homes for others.
Designed by DAHA Architects with interiors by AM Interior Studio, Little Chester House is a home that defines Aurelien’s work – exceptional finishes that reflect the builder’s commitment to quality. It’s refined and sophisticated, luxurious without ostentation, and perfectly attuned to the way his family lives and entertains.
Being French, cooking and sharing food with family and friends is an integral part of Aurelien’s lifestyle, so it’s no surprise that the kitchen became one of the most important aspects of the build. Chocolate walnut veneer cabinetry complemented by Verdi Alpi stone and bronze tapware add the luxurious element, while the streamlined design allows almost everything to be hidden away, creating a clean aesthetic when guests are present. A deliberate choice was flush installing the induction cooktop on the island bench, something not often seen in Australian kitchens due to the challenge of rangehood placement but for Aurelien, the ability to engage with guests while cooking made it an easy decision. Selecting the right appliances was therefore essential.
Having spent nearly two decades specifying and installing high-end appliances for his clients, Aurelien approached his own kitchen with an experienced eye. “When you’ve heard every kind of client feedback, you know which brands truly perform,” he says. For his own home, the choice was clear – V-ZUG, the Swiss brand celebrated for precision, innovation and their elegant, minimalist design.
The kitchen features a V-ZUG Combi-Steam Oven, a Combair Oven, a FullFlex induction Cooktop, and a fully integrated V-ZUG dishwasher. For Aurelien, one of the things he loves most about V-ZUG appliances is their ease of use. The preset functions on the ovens make everyday cooking almost effortless;
“If the kids want to put a pizza in the oven, they can do it themselves – just select the pizza function and it even sends a message to my phone when it’s done,”
Ask him what his favourite appliance is, and he doesn’t hesitate in declaring the the FullFlex induction cooktop. “I know many people who love cooking still favour gas but you really cannot surpass induction for precision and temperature control, I know there are Michelin star restaurants now using induction and the V-ZUG FullFlex is just so intuitive,” he explains. “It automatically detects where a pan has been moved across the surface and keeps cooking at the same temperature and for the same set time. You don’t have to think about it, it just knows.” It’s this hallmark of Swiss quality and innovation – technology that anticipates rather than complicates that defines the V-ZUG experience.
Beyond performance, Aurelien also values V-ZUG’s commitment to sustainability. Their entire manufacturing process follows an environmentally conscious ethos, from energy efficient production to long lasting materials and minimal waste, a philosophy that aligns closely with his own approach to design and construction.
For Aurelien, V-ZUG appliances don’t just complement the aesthetic of his gorgeous kitchen they enhance the way his family lives every day.
“We all love them. The ease of use, the simplicity, the precision really cannot be faltered, I cannot help but recommend V-ZUG to my clients and anyone else I know who is designing a new kitchen.”
