One of their standout creations is a 7,000 m² residence located on a forest plot bordered by a river on both sides. This unique setting provides complete privacy, making it feel like an island retreat. The natural surroundings play a central role in the design, influencing both the architecture and the experience of the space.
The residence introduces a new chapter in Kerimov Architects’ design journey. It incorporates organic shapes into contemporary architecture, with smooth, wavy roofs as a defining feature. These roofs symbolize the flow of water, mimicking a natural cascade. The design cleverly separates private areas like bedrooms and bathrooms from public spaces, ensuring privacy without compromising the connection to the outdoors. The use of natural slate for the roof reflects the soft curves of the riverbanks and landscape, blending the structure seamlessly with its environment.
The layout of the residence emphasizes openness and integration. Instead of dividing the building into separate blocks, it is designed as a single, cohesive volume. At the heart of the residence lies a central courtyard, preserving existing pine trees and bringing the forest into the home. This courtyard serves as a focal point, connecting the interior with the natural world. Panoramic glass walls further blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing residents to feel immersed in the surrounding landscape.
Organic shapes and a balance between openness and intimacy define the design. Natural light fills the interior, creating warm and inviting living spaces. The exterior mirrors the land’s natural contours, enhancing the connection between the building and its environment.
