Australian Made Tapware

When people talk about the design of a quality home, the conversation usually gravitates to the biggest elements – the architecture, the layout, the materials that define the overall character of the space. However, you only need to spend a little time in a new home to start to appreciate that it’s the smaller details that often make the biggest impression.

A beautifully crafted tap, a precisely machined handle or a finely finished spout can lift an entire space, adding a refined finish that immediately speaks of quality. These are the pieces people interact with constantly, and when they are made beautifully the difference is unmistakable. It is this belief in enduring craftsmanship that sits at the heart of Australian tapware manufacturer Faucet Strommen.

The family-owned company has been designing and producing luxury tapware in Kerang, a regional town in northern Victoria, since 1999. From the beginning, the intention was to create tapware that combines precision engineering with timeless design while keeping production in Australia, an approach that remains central to the brand today.

Kerang may seem an unexpected location for the manufacturing of a luxury brand, yet it has become one of the defining aspects of Faucet Strommen’s identity. Rather than shifting production offshore, the company invested in advanced manufacturing technology in regional Australia and built a skilled workforce around it. Today, more than eighty-five per cent of the team lives locally, and every piece of tapware is designed, engineered and finished in the Kerang facility.

Inside that facility, advanced multi-axis CNC machining, diamond tooling and robotic polishing systems operate alongside detailed hand-finishing techniques. This combination of technology and craftsmanship allows each component to achieve a level of precision normally associated with fine instrumentation. Materials such as lead-free EcoBrass and premium stainless steels are selected not only for their strength and durability, but also for their environmental performance and ability to retain a flawless finish over time.

Behind the engineering sits a genuine family story. Faucet Strommen grew from a background of makers and designers, a heritage that stretches back generations. A grandfather who built clocks for royalty and a mother rarely seen without a sketchpad both helped shape a culture where creative design, engineering and attention to detail are equally valued. That legacy continues to influence how the company approaches everything it produces.

Global expertise also plays a role in the process. Faucet Strommen works with specialist brass forgers in the Netherlands and Italy to ensure components meet extremely high standards before being refined and assembled in Australia. The result is tapware designed to perform reliably for decades, supported by an extraordinary 40 year warranty that is a true reflection of the company’s confidence in its quality manufacturing standards.

The hardware you touch every day. The fittings that sit against stone, marble or timber surfaces -these are the elements that bring together function, durability and visual refinement. In kitchens and bathrooms especially, these components can dramatically influence the overall feel of a room. Beyond aesthetics, high-quality tapware also plays a role in the long-term value of a home, maintaining its performance, finish and sense of quality for many years to come, and this is why the philosophy behind Faucet Strommen remains grounded in something very simple  – to make products properly and build them to last.
