Hamptons style homes are still enjoying huge popularity in new home construction across Australia. And it’s no surprise, the classic, airy and open design that is the hallmark of homes in New York’s favourite getaway destination are perfectly suited to both our coastal and rural regions. In this recently completed project by Sydney’s Tass Constructions, an old red brick waterfront property has been  transformed it into a functional modern home with a classic Hamptons style ambience.

Located Sydney’s Sutherland Shire suburb of Caringbah South with breathtaking bay views, the project started by completely gutting both levels. Tass were then able to make significant changes to the home’s structure and create more functional, open-plan spaces.

The effect of these changes is best seen in the second-story living room. With a new roof and a lofty cathedral ceiling in the front half of the room paired with sliding glass doors that open directly onto the bay, the space becomes lighter and cooler and takes on a dreamy luxe atmosphere.

One of the most exciting spaces Tass Construction group have added to the home is the new wrap-around balcony. Following the home’s length from the living room, kitchen and master bedroom, the balcony allows the owners to take advantage of sea breezes, natural light and spectacular coastal views.

The reflective cream and whites of the walls and carpets and the soothing taupe greys of the
timber floors and external and internal tiles create a gentle nautical vibe that is carried
throughout the entire home. The new internal spaces have been framed in contemporary
wainscoting and clean groove-styled panelling. This extra dimension to the interior walls adds to the classic Hamptons aesthetic.

The Caringbah property relies heavily on the elegance and casual sophistication of natural light however a few considered pieces have been selected to provide statement lighting that creates intimacy and subtle brilliance. Modern chandelier lighting in the dining area provides a more formal arrangement than in the adjacent entertaining spaces, which innovative feature accent lighting in creative systems like the cabinetry behind the fixed TV.

In the master bedroom, the home captures yet another crucial Hamptons theme. Hamptons homes are known for their open communal areas as well as their majestic size. The renovation has created an idyllic master retreat of generous proportions that includes a a double basin ensuite and a private courtyard.
