Nestled above the cliff’s edge with spectacular unobstructed views over the Pacific Ocean, is this striking contemporary residence by multi-award winning Gremmo Homes that since completed has become a new landmark on the Turrimetta Headland.
Being situated right on the oceanfront, material selection was critically important in the construction of this residence to ensure that the home could withstand the harsh Australian coastal conditions. Cladding of natural Berrimah stone and Blackbutt timber were selected for their durability and organic qualities, which add an earthiness to the home’s exterior and ensure it blends harmoniously with the stunning natural surroundings. They will however also play a major role in the story of the home’s evolution as they age and weather over time, adding to the rustic coastal aesthetic of the design.
Creating continuity with the home’s exterior, timber and stone also feature throughout the homes stylish interior, adding warmth to an otherwise neutral palette that includes stark white cabinetry and benchtops in the luxuriously appointed kitchen. Extensive glazing, including a wall of double height windows, possible thanks to an upper-level void, and an open-plan design, including open staircase, ensures that the home is filled with an abundance of natural light and allows the spectacular ocean vista to take centre stage.
Orientated to the north, the solar passive design also cleverly takes full advantage of the coastal breezes. For added energy the home has also been fitted with double glazed windows, photo voltaic power generation and an intelligent home automation system that ensures the home operates efficiently, with minimal wastage of resources.
Offering the ultimate in coastal family living the home incorporates multiple living spaces including a media room, games room, gym and of course the spectacular outdoor entertaining space complete with fire pit, wet bar and pool with an underwater glass viewing window into the home.
Despite having built many homes throughout Sydney’s northern beaches, Andrew Gremmo from Gremmo Homes says he was particularly excited by the opportunity that this site presented from the onset,
“The location of this home is incredible and as the design came together based on the clients vision, we knew this would be an amazing project. And it is. More importantly, the owners are just as ecstatic as we are with the completed home”.
