Milan Design Week see’s the world’s best luxury brands launch their latest collections of fabulous treasures and Roberto Cavalli released a special edition of Ray Of Gold as part of their home collection available now in Australia. The iconic Ray Of Gold print designed by Roberto Cavalli is reimagined on furniture. The dining table is the centrepiece of the collection, featuring an inlaid top and legs that resemble the winged sleeves of a dress from the maison.

The story of Ray of Gold says that Roberto Cavalli, an inventive man who has given his fashion the infinite shades of his imagination, is sitting at a table. He has his ever-present camera with him. He lights a cigarette and places his gold lighter on the table. A ray of sunlight hits him and refracts. Roberto’s quick eye catches it and, in an instant, the lens captures the evanescent scene of an event that, by its very nature, is unrepeatable. The photo will be transferred onto fabric and become a print that, with those rays of light, will illuminate the Roberto Cavalli Spring Summer 2007 collection.

“I started exploring the Cavalli archive from a famous caftan made for Marta Marzotto. It was embroidered on a fabric printed with the Ray of Gold print made by Roberto Cavalli himself, which even reminded me of his passion for Art Deco,” says Fausto Puglisi, Roberto Cavalli’s Creative Director.

For Ray of Gold, Puglisi designed a Capsule Collection that develops the print on all the brand’s creations: Ready-to-Wear and Beachwear, Eyewear and now the Home Collection.

The large rectangular table features rounded corners in soft lines and curved legs in solid black beech wood that reproduce, in geometric form, the winged sleeves of the first dress from 2007. Its bold scenic presence is emphasized by the top, with a decorative motif created using the inlay technique with three different types of wood: Tanganyika frisé for the ivory part, Tanganyika for the black part, and Pama for the yellow part. An artifact born of the craftsmanship that has always distinguished Roberto Cavalli Home Interiors.
