Viceroy Bali is a place that takes your breath away from the moment you arrive. This resort captures the timeless grandeur of iconic luxury hotels like The Ritz and Raffles, blending colonial elegance with lush tropical surroundings and honestly, it completely exceeded my expectations.

I have been to Bali a lot  – at least two to three times a year, usually staying in private villas because I travel with family and love the privacy of having our own pool and space. But this time, traveling solo, I wanted the safety of a resort without giving up that private villa experience. Viceroy Bali was the perfect choice.

From the second you drive in, you know this place is special. Before you even reach the grand foyer, you pass Apéritif, their fine-dining restaurant, and a helipad – yes, a helipad! That alone gives you an idea of how next-level this place is. But even with all that, I was still blown away. The vibe reminded me of iconic places like The Raffles in London or St. Regis in New York – that mix of timeless elegance and service that’s so flawless it feels effortless.

I stayed in a Deluxe Terrace Villa, and let me tell you, if you’re planning a trip to Ubud, you HAVE to stay here, even if it’s just for one night. The villas sit right on the edge of the “Valley of the Kings,” a lush, jungle-covered ravine that feels almost magical. There’s something about it that’s hard to describe – it’s peaceful, beautiful, and just feels special in a way that makes you just want to sit there and  Being and soak in the soak in the natural beauty while enjoying every possible luxury.

The villa itself was stunning. A lot of places in Bali can feel a bit worn down because the tropical climate brings a lot of dampness, but Viceroy Bali is pristine. It’s as perfectly maintained as a luxury city hotel but still has that warm, tropical vibe. The design blends traditional Balinese touches, like high thatched ceilings, with marble floors and luxury furnishings. And the bed… oh my gosh, it was enormous! I’m pretty sure it could’ve slept four people comfortably. It almost felt like a waste having it all to myself, but I’m not complaining! hahaha

The villa opens out to a private terrace with an infinity pool that seems to float over the valley. There’s also a Bale (a traditional Balinese pavilion) that’s perfect for relaxing. I spent hours just sitting there, taking in the view and soaking up the jungle vibes. But it’s the little things that really stood out. There were fresh flowers on the bed when I arrived, a handwritten welcome note, premium coffee capsules for the Italian coffee machine, complimentary snacks, and the kind of service where everyone greets you by name. It’s those thoughtful details that make you feel truly cared for.

The Deluxe Terrace Villa was huge and could definitely accommodate a family with one child, however if you are travelling with a larger group Viceroy Bali also has stunning 2 bedroom villas available, as well as premium villas with separate living areas and gardens.

Even though the resort is just outside Ubud and close to all its attractions, I barely left. The dining options were incredible. Apéritif is next-level fine dining, and on my last night, I had the Balinese Rijstaffel Dinner. The chefs went out of their way to cater to my dietary needs, and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The resort’s main poolside bar was another highlight – perfect for sunset cocktails with a view.

The service at Viceroy Bali is something else – every single person I met was warm and friendly, but also so professional. The guy who showed me around the resort in a buggy shared stories about working there since before it even opened, and the chauffeur, Kadek, adapted to my last-minute plans and even lent me his phone charger. Every interaction felt personal and genuine, like they really care about making your stay perfect.

If you love the finer things in life, Viceroy Bali is a must-stay. It’s an absolutely gorgeous slice of paradise that leaves you feeling spoiled and recharged. I’m already counting down the days until I can go back!
