Inside a Luxury Peppermint Grove Renovation

The major renovation was undertaken by award winning custom builders, Azure Luxury Homes , with works extending throughout the interiors and exteriors of the residence to create a home of the highest calibre. Internal and external walls were altered, the roof was resprayed and the home substantially rebuilt following the strip-out. At the rear, the scope expanded further with an extension to the alfresco area and the introduction of dramatic double-height glazing, bringing impressive scale to one of the home’s principal entertaining zones.

Among the most distinctive architectural features is the perforated anodised aluminium screening. Its fine vertical lines create a striking graphic element against expansive glazing and pale stonework, adding depth and texture to the rear elevation. After dark, integrated lighting picks up the screening and gives the architecture an entirely different presence when viewed from the garden and pool.

Stone is used extensively throughout the renovation, helping create a visual connection between the interiors and outdoor areas. Pale limestone-toned cladding appears across the exterior and continues inside, where a substantial stone fireplace forms a focal point within the main living space. Against white walls, black-framed glazing and timber elements, the natural variation of the stone brings warmth to the contemporary palette.

The double-height glazing at the rear is another defining feature, extending upwards alongside the alfresco area and opening the home towards the garden. Large expanses of glass bring the outdoor environment into view from the interior and strengthen the connection between the living spaces, alfresco and pool, particularly fitting for a Perth home where outdoor entertaining can be enjoyed for much of the year.

Beyond the main residence, the scale of the Peppermint Grove renovation becomes even more apparent. The new swimming pool, finished with Bali stone tiles and an infinity edge, forms the centrepiece of an impressive entertaining environment surrounded by extensive landscaping. A new pool cabana incorporates an outdoor kitchen and generous space for relaxing and entertaining, creating a separate destination within the garden while remaining visually connected to the house.

The landscaping softens the strong lines of the architecture and provides a lush backdrop to the pool, cabana and alfresco spaces. Stone, glazing, dark metalwork and greenery work together across the different areas, giving the outdoor spaces the presence of another living zone rather than simply a backyard. From inside, the large expanses of glass frame views across the pool and garden; from outside, the illuminated screening, stone and soaring glazing provide a dramatic backdrop after sunset.

What makes the project particularly impressive is the extent of the work involved. This was not a renovation focused on updating finishes or refreshing a few rooms. The house was gutted, walls were altered, major new architectural elements were introduced and the outdoor areas were extensively redeveloped. Working within an existing structure brings its own complexities, particularly on a project of this calibre, making the quality and scale of the completed transformation all the more significant.
