Ample use of soaring double height glazing interspersed with imposing panels of custom-coloured rammed earth sourced from local materials further assimilates the home into its hilltop setting. The main living space incorporates the kitchen, two separate lounge areas and the dining area. This open concept area is surrounded by glass windows and doors that admit a profusion of natural light. The views reinforce the feeling of sitting perched on top of the world surrounded by dramatic natural vistas of the valley below.
Combining airy,gallery-like public spaces with warm and sophisticated areas for private retreat, the home has been highly specified throughout with finishes that showcase exceptional attention to detail. Large format stone tiled floors and rammed earth walls provide the natural look requested by the client whilst hand detailed oak clad walls and crafted glazed panel cabinetry at a sense of warmth and luxury to the home.
Outdoor living areas include an expansive patio adjacent to the main living area and a lavish pool and pool house overlooking extensive landscaping and stone paving.
Visioneer overcame several challenges that were created by the complex design, one major issue was the large unsupported spans of rammed earth that required cladding of the precast concrete panels behind to achieve the desired visual effect. Visioneer worked with the client on decisions about materials and methodology, resulting in a close and trusted working relationship throughout the project and post construction. The collaboration resolved design and structural issues from the early pre-construction phase to the completion of this outstanding project which was given a special commendation for Best Custom Over $2 Million in the 2017 Master Builders Excellence in Housing Awards.
